Beauty Queen of Leenane

Playhouse 615 is pleased to hold auditions for the Tony Award-winning drama, The Beauty Queen of Leenane, a darkly comic play by Irish playwright, Martin McDonagh.

 

The play traces the tempestuous relationship of a spinster daughter, a plain and lonely woman with her first and possibly final chance at love, and her manipulative mother who sets about to derail her daughter’s chance at happiness and ultimately pays for it with her life.

 

Auditions are Saturday, May 4, noon - 2 p.m. and Sunday, May 5, 6 - 8 p.m. Performances are June 21 - July 7.

 

There are roles available for two men and two women:

• Maureen Folan, age 35 - 40

• Mag Folan, age 55 - 70

• Pato Doley, age 35 - 45

• Ray Dooley, age 20 - 30

 

The setting is Leenane, Ireland, a small town in Connemara, County Galway.

 

Headshots and resumes are requested though not required. Actors will read from the script.

 

Directing is Joel Meriwether.
